RECIPE: Wildflower Honey Old Fashioned

CAMPING RECIPES for the “Outdoorsy Foodie”

I am not a chef… but I am a foodie, a world traveler, and am all about being comfortable and eating and drinking well while camping.

Please enjoy my novice recipe that is easy enough for camping but delicious enough to be served at a restaurant or cocktail bar. This recipe is inspired by forgetting to buy the demerara sugar haha, accident made into a creative choice.

This is my favourite combination.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5-2 oz of Bourbon

  • 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters (or Orange Bitters or mix of both)

  • 1/2 tsp of Wildflower Honey (or to taste)

  • 1 Orange for Garnish

DIRECTION

  1. In a cocktail mixing glass filled with ice, pour in your bourbon, honey and bitters

  2. Mix with Bar Spoon for 15 seconds or until honey is disolved (*NOTE if the honey you are using is really thick you can add a tiny bit of boiling water and melt the honey in another glass then pour into the mixing glass)

  3. Pour over large ice cube

  4. Use citrus peeler to make orange flag and rub the orange peel on rim of glass (make sure there is no white pith on the orange flag or it will be bitter and you will not get the nice orange oil)

  5. ENJOY!

Let me know what you think in the comments.
