Local’s Guide to the Best Okanagan Wineries
special thank you to tece, pam, AND alex for sharing your local knowledge with me
Moon curser - for red wine lovers
a winery that thinks outside of the box! Honourable mention to the Carménère 2018 and the Tempranillo 2018
maverick winery - small, adorable, great wines
for Marlborough sauvignon blanc lovers, they have a sauvignon blanc in a similar style also notable mention is their delicious chardonnay which as my friend would describe it “is not very chardonnay-ish”. also try their “fia” their take on a port!
clos du soleil - for organic wine lovers
organic wine, with beautiful picnic table area nestled in the hills, we took home a bottle of the signature red blend with us, mmm mmm mmm! (bonus it is dog friendly inside!)
the hatch - for the orange wine
this is a really down to earth vibe, do yourself a favour and try the orange wine and buy a bottle or three!! (bonus it is a dog friendly patio!)
quail’s gate - for the popular choice and great food too
beautiful spot, very busy, definitely recommend making reservations, great place for special occasions and wonderful food. I personally did not have the honour of trying the food or wine here, but it came highly recommended. it’s on the top of the list for next time!
bonus: twisted hills craft cider - for unique dry ciders
super cool round building and outstanding ciders. standing ovation for the pacific gem hopped cider - if you are a fan of dry ciders it’s a must try, and the hops are not overwhelming! (bonus it is dog friendly inside!)
